Builder Bio – I started my journey with small airplanes at the age of 19 when I joined the Army as an aircraft repairman and crew chief from 1966 to 1969. During that time, I had the privilege of maintaining and flying in a variety of aircraft, including Beavers, Otters, Queen Air, and nearly every helicopter in the Army’s arsenal. These early years laid the foundation for my lifelong love of aviation.
In 1997, I achieved a significant milestone in my aviation career when I earned my private pilot’s license through the USAF Aero Club at Hanscom AFB. I spent countless hours flying C-172s, Cherokees, and Arrows, learning the ins and outs of general aviation. Over the next decade, I expanded my skills, earning certifications for Instrument, high-performance, complex, and seaplane flying.
In 2000, I decided to take my passion further and purchased a Seawind kit, a versatile aircraft known for its performance and design. I added a PT6-20 engine and a Garmin G1000 avionics suite, creating my own dream machine. My Seawind took to the skies for the first time in 2012, and in 2014, I had the privilege of landing it at AirVenture, Oshkosh, one of the largest aviation events in the world.
My love for flight has only deepened over the years, and I take great joy in being part of the aviation community. I now park my Super Seawind and my hat near my hometown of Lexington, MA, where I live with my wife, Peggy. Aviation continues to be a huge part of my life, and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences it has given me.
