Sun’n Fun Adventures-What’s great about S&F?: Sun and Fun in Lakeland, Florida is a great way to update your knowledge, meet new people, and have lots of fun too.

Sun’n Fun Adventures-Then and now; when I first attended about sixteen years ago, the digital revolution was birthing – and still very expensive. It was the realm of big planes and deep, deep, pockets. Pilots there were old school trained and very skilled that way. In essence, they loved flying largely for the sake of flying itself. They flew wheels, pontoons in experimental and standard certified categories ranging from ultra lights to multi-engine. Almost without an exception, they all seemed happy to share their skills and views of their aircraft. The camaraderie and gatherings over food and presentations made events lots of fun.

What not to miss:

First, the presentations by experts in just about anything you can think of related to flying aircraft. Avionics, new ratings, engines, new and older aircraft for sale, adventure planning and assistance, and group projects just to name a few. I liked the float plane competitions for take off and landings. Pilots showed off their skills – and their airplanes. The crowd couldn’t have applauded more. Excitement was in the air.

Technology takeaways are huge. In just the past sixteen years, I think you’ll agree, technology has changed aviation far more than the previous one hundred years. It’s been a full-blown revolution. No matter how advanced my airplane is decked out to be, I’m always amazed at the techno leaps right there before my eyes. And, you know what? It’s just the beginning. Go and see for yourself.

Training:

no matter what you aspire to do with your flying, there are folks at Sun n Fun who can help you. Perhaps your ready to start training for your instrument rating? Check out the the many flight schools there to see if one is a great fit for you. How about a water rating? Florida has tons of lakes and lots of flight schools that’ll help you explore them and all the others east and west of the Mississippi River too. The water-rating training I did in Alaska and Maine, I can attest, was truly wonderful. These ratings also qualify as your BFR. It’s all waiting for you at Sun n Fun 2020. So come on down and join the Show! https://www.flysnf.org/sun-n-fun-intl-fly-expo/
